Principal’s Welcome

“Education is learning what you didn’t even know you didn’t know.”
- Daniel J. Boorstin

At Mount Eliza Secondary College we pride ourselves on being an inclusive school that strives to meet the needs of individual students, so that they can be their best. As a school community, we believe that families, Teachers and Education Support Staff work together to educate for excellence and prepare our young people for life.

Being an International Baccalaureate World School, we focus on building globally minded students that are

• Risk Takers
• Balanced
• Caring
• Principled
• Thinkers
• Communicators
• Open-Minded
• Reflective
• Inquiring

Students are exposed to a concept-based curriculum, allowing them to be curious as they inquire into the world of Literature, Mathematics, Science, Individuals and Societies, the Arts, Design, Language Acquisitions and Health and PE.

As a college we co-construct pathways with students, with the aim of retaining them in education throughout their senior years here at MESC. Students are well prepared for the Victorian Certificate of Education, including Vocational Major and Vocational Education and Training. We actively support our students to be successful in work, traineeships, apprenticeships and University.

As a Principal, I want all of our students to be HAPPY, SMART and PREPARED. HAPPY to be a student here at the college, wanting to attend, be actively involved in all of the many opportunities available and make others around them HAPPY too. I want to see students be their SMART. To put in the effort academically to achieve growth in skills and knowledge while making SMART choices in being a caring and positive human. I want to see students PREPARED to learn. To be organised each day and have pride to wear the MESC uniform, have materials to be effective learners and be PREPARED to have a go, stand up for what is right and work hard to attain goals and dreams.

I thank you for considering our wonderful college to be the place your child will experience an excellent secondary education. We take this role very seriously. I highly encourage you to attend one of our tours to see the calm, orderly environment and engaging learning that occurs at this college day to day.

How does MESC

help

its students
at Secondary Level?

Why MESC

We want students to grow into their identities and become the best versions of themselves.

We display confidence, energy and fresh thinking, sharing our passion for our subjects.

We provide a stimulating school environment where students can learn, live, love and grow.

My sons are valued and respected at Mount Eliza Secondary College. My sons' educational experience of engaging learning at the college is exemplary, which encourages them to academically grow, while ensuring that their secondary school education is top class.

Lisa Ingerton

Parent

We have been parents of MESC for over 20 years. Our youngest (and sixth) child is in year 10 this year. That alone tells you how highly we regard the school, its community and its policies. We have seen many changes at the school over the past 20 years, but the one constant is the standard of excellence MESC offers and expects in both education and wellbeing.
