Middle Years Program (Years 7–9)
Teaching and Learning
At Mount Eliza Secondary College, we believe that success is built through high expectations, strong relationships, and purposeful learning experiences. Our Middle Years Program (years 7-9) challenges students to think deeply, question ideas, and take intellectual risks in a supportive environment where effort and growth are valued.
Students are encouraged to develop independence, resilience, and confidence as learners, while being supported to set goals and reflect on their progress.
Connection to the college begins early. Through partnerships with our local feeder primary schools, including transition activities such as sport and Aspiring Leaders Day, students are given opportunities to build familiarity and confidence before they even begin Year 7. Our staff work closely with primary colleagues to ensure each student’s transition to secondary school is smooth and well-supported.
In the Middle Years, students experience a broad and balanced curriculum that builds strong foundations across core areas: English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities, and Health and Physical Education. This is complemented by a diverse range of elective subjects in the Arts, Design, Languages, and other specialised fields, enabling students to explore interests and discover new strengths.
Learning is carefully planned to ensure all students are both supported and challenged. Opportunities for extension and enrichment are embedded within the curriculum, and students seeking additional challenge may apply for the Enhanced Performance Program. This program provides targeted mentoring and enriched learning experiences that extend beyond the classroom.
We want students to grow into their identities and become the best versions of themselves.
We display confidence, energy and fresh thinking, sharing our passion for our subjects.
We provide a stimulating school environment where students can learn, live, love and grow.
